Introduction

One of the most common questions when it comes to Broadband is 'How much does it cost?'. Well this page is designed to give you some guidance.

Assumptions

1. The user is currently subscribed to a 'fixed cost' internet access package (e.g. BT Openworld Anytime etc.) - the price of these vary, the service we have used is priced at £18 per month (some are more, some less).

2. The ISDN scenarios assume that the service is provided through the BT Highway service (either Home or Business) at the lowest price subscription point (i.e. no call allowances).

3. An installation charge of 2 hours by ourselves - this is an estimate and may be more or less.

4. The PCs to be connected have either a working USB connection or available ethernet network port (can be checked over the phone in most instances).

5. The ADSL modem/router/firewall specified is the US Robotics SureConnect 9003 which allows 3 concurrent PC connections (2 x ethernet, 1 USB). If more PCs need to be connected then a further network device (switch/hub) is required at additional cost.

6. The ISP we have selected is Eclipse Internet - they have been selected based upon their pricing, quality of service, customer service and feedback seen from happy customers on ADSLGuide.org.
